Who would win a fight pitting 100 men vs. one silverback gorilla? The age-old question has been asked since the beginning of time.
Actually, the question was asked and first went viral on Reddit about five years ago, and it somehow has picked up steam once again. So naturally, who better to ask this question than a UFC fighter? It was presented to Cory Sandhagen during Wednesday’s UFC on ESPN 67 media day, and the bantamweight contender’s answer came with an interesting twist.
“This is weird. I haven’t heard this before,” Sandhagen told reporters. “I definitely would need a hundred of me. But a hundred is kind of a lot. I don’t know how we would win. My go-to would probably be a bunch of trying to kick him in the nuts as many times as I could and then probably poke him in the eye. Everything that I could do that would be illegal in a fight, I’d probably try to do to the gorilla, and hopefully he wouldn’t rip and kill too many of myselves.”
My $0.02? If it’s just 100 regular guys off the couch, I’m taking the gorilla all day. But now, if it’s 100 Cory Sandhagens with all of his skills as a mixed martial artist, I don’t know, that could be interesting.
Fantasy human vs. primate fights aside, Sandhagen has a tall task in front of him in the form of former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo, whom he faces in Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 67 main event at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
