After about a month in the transfer portal, Santana Wilson has found a new home. The Arizona native signed with Louisville on Friday and has three years of eligibility remaining. While the former three-star recruit’s time with the Longhorns is coming to an early end, he will now have the chance to shine in a new system.
The Desert Mountain High Alum redshirted his freshman season and did not get any playing time. He finally made his debut during the 2025 campaign, appearing in two games. In that limited sample size, Wilson recorded two total tackles. His collegiate debut came against Sam Houston when Texas won 55-0.
Coming out of high school, the expectations were high for Wilson. He was ranked as the 140th best prospect in the nation by 247Sports. Before committing to the Longhorns, he also received offers from Washington, Wisconsin, Arizona State, Oklahoma, and Baylor.

Although things did not go as planned in Texas, Wilson brings valuable experience to the table. The former Longhorn knows what it is like to play for a program with high expectations. When he arrives on campus, he will be motivated to prove why the Cardinals made the right choice in adding him to their secondary.
Although the Longhorns have lost many pieces to the portal, they have been busy improving their roster. The additions include Dylan Sikorski, Zion Williams, Raleek Brown, and Michael Masunas. That list should continue to increase with lots of talent left on the board.
For Wilson the focus will now be on putting himself in the best position to make an impact for the Cardinals. If he can take advantage of an increased role, the Cardinals defense will be in good hands.
