There are several former Texas A&M basketball players in various professional leagues across the world, and one name that keeps popping up with elite numbers is Andersson Garcia.
While at Texas A&M, he wasn’t really known for his scoring; some of that probably had to do with the way the Aggies’ offense was run. However, he was always a high motor player who consistently worked on his shot, and in his final season, he developed a reliable jump shot.

Since he’s been playing overseas, he’s been racking up accolades, and it all culminated with him being named the Dominican Republic National Basketball League (DRNBL) Rookie of the Year. He averaged 13.7 PPG, 9.9 RPG, 5.9 APG, and 1.3 SPG with the Marineros de Puerto Plata.
He is now in the NBA G League with the Mexico City Capitanes, where he is teammates with fellow Texas A&M Aggie Wade Taylor. Garcia is one of the key bench players, averaging 14.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. On Wednesday, he had one of his best performances in the G League with a double-double of 20 points and 18 rebounds off the bench.
Garcia continues to get better, and with his style of play, there will always be a professional basketball team willing to give him a look. Is the NBA in his future? Who knows, but he is showing that he deserves to be a professional basketball player.
Nicknamed the “Dominican Dennis Rodman,” Garcia became known for relentless rebounding and tenacious defense during his time at Texas A&M. He was a fan favorite and etched his name into the program’s record books with several notable achievements:
