Sardis girls, Glencoe boys repeat as Etowah County Schools Basketball Champions

SOUTHSIDE — It was a day for repeat titles at the Etowah County Schools basketball tournament Friday, Jan. 16, as the Sardis girls and Glencoe boys won their second straight titles.

For the Lady Lions, it’s the fourth title in five seasons, the only four titles that the program has won. It’s the 21st title for Glencoe boys, the most of any girls or boys program in Etowah County and the third title in four seasons for Ryan Chambless’ squad.

Sardis earned the 51-28 win over Southside. Mya Glass won MVP honors after scoring 16 points in the win. Zoey McKinney had 14 points in the loss.

The Yellow Jackets won a record 21st county title behind a 16-point comeback for a 51-43 win over Southside. Grant Smith led the way with 21 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks, including 20 points following a one-point first quarter. Southside was led by 14 points from Luke Clark and 13 from Caden Holderfield.
