Goff, 31, had one of the best seasons of his career, though the Lions missed the playoffs with a 9-8 record. He finished second in the NFL with 4,564 passing yards and completed 68% of his passes with 34 touchdowns and eight interceptions while taking a career-high 38 sacks.

Goff had five turnovers in a Christmas Day loss to the Minnesota Vikings that eliminated the Lions from the playoffs, but two of the fumbles came on bad snaps and Lions coach Dan Campbell gave Goff a strong vote of confidence days later.

“Jared Goff is stud. He’s an absolute stud,” Campbell said in a radio interview on WXYT-FM (97.1). “We’re fortunate to have him as a quarterback. He’s a winning quarterback in this league. He played at a very high level all season long. He played even better than he played the year before, and he’s continued to play better.”

Acquired in a 2021 trade with the Los Angeles Rams along with three draft picks for Matthew Stafford, Goff has started every game for the past four seasons and is 48-33-1 as Lions quarterback.

He joined Stafford and Greg Landry as the only Lions quarterbacks to make the Pro Bowl since Bobby Layne in 2022 and was picked for the game again last year.
