The Detroit Red Wings have assigned forward Dominik Shine to the Grand Rapids Griffins, it was announced Wednesday.
Shine, a member of the Red Wings organization since turning pro in 2016, made his NHL debut during the recall, ultimately playing in four games with the Red Wings and collecting an assist. Appearing in 40 games with the Griffins this season, Shine has 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points.
Over parts of nine AHL seasons, all with the Griffins, Shine has played in 462 career regular season games and has put up 72 goals and 170 points. In 19 playoff games, he has collected seven points.
A product of Pinckney, Mich., Shine has spent the majority of his playing career in Michigan, playing his minor, college and entire pro career in his home state. The only part of his career where Shine wasn’t in Michigan was when he played four seasons with the USHL’s Lincoln Stars.
With Shine having signed a two-year extension recently, he has impressed Red Wings’ management and looks to be on their regular rotation of call-ups options for the future.
