The retired boxing champion reacted to Hayden’s death in a heartfelt public statement in August 2026.
“Our family is going through a time of profound shock and grief,” Wladimir’s statement began. “The announcement of Hayden’s tragic death saddens me deeply. She left this world far too soon. Hayden was, although no longer my partner, an important part of my life and the mother of our daughter, Kaya. She built an incredible career through immense talent, while also facing the darker sides of a very demanding industry. Nothing will erase the times we shared or the place she had in our lives.”
Wladimir also vowed that he would keep Hayden’s memory alive for their daughter.
“To our daughter Kaya, I will always speak of her mother with respect and make sure she remembers the person she was,” he continued. “I extend my deepest condolences to Hayden’s parents, her friends, and her fans, who are also grieving today. Young and talented people like Hayden should not leave this world so soon. I ask everyone to please respect our family’s feelings and privacy during this incredibly difficult time. For now, this is all I wish to say. Thank you to everyone who is supporting my family and expressing their sincere condolences.”
The Klitschko Ventures founder concluded by writing, “Rest easy, Hayden. May you find eternal peace. #WeLoveYouHayden.”

Hayden and Wladimir were together for nine years. They reportedly started dating in 2009 and welcomed Kaya in December 2014. The couple ventrally split in 2018.

Neither Hayden nor Wladimir has ever cited the exact reasons for their breakup, but the Ice Princess star pointed to her drinking habits as a problem in their relationship.
During a 2022 interview with People, Hayden said Wladimir “didn’t want to be around me.”
“I didn’t want to be around me,” Hayden said at the time. “But with the opiates and alcohol I was doing anything to make me feel happy for a moment. Then I’d feel worse than I did before. I was in a cycle of self-destruction.”

“So by the time I finally got healthy, I felt like it would have been unfair of me to, and selfish of me to try to pull her out of this life that she had been [creating], this life that she had been living,” Hayden explained.
In October 2026, Wladimir was granted legal authority by a California court to protect Hayden’s property for their child.
