Former Wild Forward Signs Extension In Dallas

The Dallas Stars announced on Friday that the former Wild forward Sam Steel signed a two-year contract extension worth $2.1 million (AAV).

Steel, 27, has four goals and 17 points in 53 games this year for the Stars. He is currently in his second season with the Stars and is now locked up into another two years.

The Wild signed Steel after the Anaheim Ducks let him go in 2022. In 65 games for the Wild during the 2022-23 season, Steel recorded ten goals and 28 points. He was even the team’s first line center for stretches of the season.

He recorded one goal and one assist in five playoff games for the Wild that year as well. Which was against the Stars. The Wild did not sign him after and Steel signed a one-year deal with Dallas for the 2023-24 season. He recorded nine goals and 24 points in 77 games.

Steel’s 2022-23 season with the Wild are still his NHL career highs in goals (10, assists (18), points (28), and plus-minus (+11).
