Carson Hocevar scored a career-best second-place finish in Sunday’s Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
However, the aggressive moves made behind the wheel of his No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet left his fellow competitors frustrated with how the 22-year-old sophomore raced.

Hocevar didn’t shy away from bold moves throughout the 266-lap event, leaving past champions Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney angered by the contact caused by the Michigan native. After the event, FOX Sports showed that Blaney and Ross Chastain both approached Hocevar for post-race conversations on pit road to voice their perspectives.
Blaney went for a spin from fifth place off Hocevar’s front bumper heading into Turn 1 at Lap 234, sending Blaney sideways through the length of Turns 1 and 2 before rallying to a top-five finish.

Hocevar declined to share what words the veterans offered him but celebrated his best run to date in the Cup Series.
A caution flag on the final lap in overtime negated Hocevar’s last-ditch effort to collect his first career Cup win. Hocevar’s No. 77 Chevrolet was in the middle of Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson when the caution lights illuminated, signaling Bell as the winner, Hocevar second and Larson third.
