The New York Rangers acquired Juuso Parssinen in the trade that sent Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey to the Colorado Avalanche as that was a calculated move by Blueshirts president and general manager Chris Drury.

Parssinen was not just a throw-in player in this deal. The Rangers have reportedly had an interest in Parssinen for a long time.

In fact, the team reportedly had discussions to acquire the Finnish center during his time with the Nashville Predators before he ultimately was traded to Colorado in December.

The Rangers strongly feel that he can jump right into the lineup and play center, which could allow Peter Laviolette to keep Mika Zibanejad playing on the wing alongside J.T. Miller.

At just 24-years-old, the Rangers organization has faith in Parssinen with the belief that he still has a ton of upside and room to grow into an impactful center.

Parssinen was selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators. He made his NHL debut for the Predators during the 2022-23 campaign and played 104 total games there.

Between Nashville and Colorado, Parssinen has played in 126 NHL games, recording 18 goals, 30 assists and 48 points while averaging 13:23 minutes.
