The New York Rangers have reportedly acquired defenseman Carson Soucy from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick.

It has been long rumored that the Rangers were looking to acquire a left-handed defenseman and Chris Drury went out and did just that with the addition of Soucy.

Something important to note is that Soucy is under contract for next season at a cap hit of $3.25 million.

Dury has not given up on the season and that’s been evident through some of the recent trades the Rangers have made.

He’s also acquiring players that help the Rangers going into next season and Soucy fits that bill perfectly.

The 30-year-old defenseman has played for the Minnesota Wild, Seattle Kraken and Canucks over his seven-year career.

This season Soucy has recorded three goals, seven assists and 10 points while averaging 18:22 minutes.
