‘It’s over for Ohio State’

Bryce Underwood grew up cheering for LeBron James.

And recently, the Michigan’s star quarterback recruit had no issue letting his childhood idol know that he plans on dominating James’ favorite college team during the next several years.

LeBron, you see, grew up in Ohio and is a big Ohio State fan.

Underwood told the story recently on the “Rich Eisen Show” and it is pretty amusing.

Underwood, who is from Belleville, Michigan and was the No. 1 football recruit in the country this year according to the USA TODAY High School Sports top 100 composite recruiting rankings, is close friends with NBA future Hall of Famer James Harden. Recently, Harden hosted Underwood and his father at a Clipper game against the Lakers.

Underwood asked to meet James and was admittedly nervous when the opportunity came.

“I grew up a Lebron James fan,” he said on the show. “I had a Miami Heat jersey, I had a Cleveland jersey, you know all that.”

Underwood says he and James chatted for a while before Underwood broke the tough news – “just to let you know, I go to Michigan.”

“Aww, yeah?” James replied?

“Oh, yeah,” said Underwood. “It’s over for Ohio State.”

Underwood said James laughed it off, and was gracious when he was introduced to Underwood’s father.

Eisen loved the story. “But you had to let him know,” Eisen said, “that the next few Novembers are going to go like …”

“Like the last four,” Underwood said, drawing a big laugh from Eisen, who is a Michigan grad.

Michigan is on a four-year winning streak over Ohio State. Michigan won the national championship two years ago and Ohio State won it this past season.
