When the Pittsburgh Steelers traded for wide receiver Mike Williams, it felt like the Steelers found their guy. He was wallowing with the New York Jets and needed a fresh start. What he got was more of the same and it all amounted to what he called the worst year he’d had in the league and referred to it as terrible.
In nine games with the Steelers, Williams was only targeted 13 times, of which he caught nine. The entire Steelers pass offense floundered last season for a myriad of reasons, and Williams, along with the rest of the Steelers receivers, had to suffer for it.
Williams now finds himself back with the Los Angeles Chargers where he spent his seven seasons and he couldn’t be happier. Meanwhile the Steelers traded a fifth-round pick to get Williams and in hindsight was maybe the most wasteful move general manager Omar Khan has made since coming over.
