Mike Tomlin denies Steelers have a Plan B for Aaron Rodgers retirement

From hypothetical veteran free agency signings to trade predictions—and even 2025 NFL Draft rumors surrounding Jalen Milroe—Aaron Rodgers’ decision on whether or not to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers has taken the NFL world by storm. However, HC Mike Tomlin doesn’t believe there is any Plan A, B, or C regarding the four-time MVP’s potential no-show in Pittsburgh.

When asked whether the Steelers would have a backup plan in place if Rodgers decided to retire or play elsewhere, Tomlin shot down the notion:

“I don’t know if we are identifying anything as plan A, plan B or plan C. We’re just simply looking at the field of available people, whether it’s free agency or the draft—and making decisions and gathering info accordingly.”

Are Tomlin’s comments simply an unwillingness to reveal his hand too early, as Rodgers may indeed be signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers? Or is the embarrassment of the four-time MVP dragging the Steel City through this painful waiting game something Tomlin refuses to delve into?
