The Cardinals announced the following dates.
2025 Cardinals offseason program dates
- April 22: Offseason workouts begin
- Phase 1 will be for two weeks
- Phase 2 will be for three weeks
- May 9-11: Mandatory rookie minicamp
- May 28-30, June 3-5: Voluntary OTAs (organized team activities)
- June 10-12: Mandatory minicamp for veterans and rookies
Takeaways
The Cardinals start their offseason program the week they are able. They could begin on April 21 but will start on the 22nd, a Tuesday.
The biggest takeaway is that the Cardinals will have only two weeks of OTAs. Teams are permitted three weeks, totaling 10 practices. They will only have two weeks and six total practices of voluntary work. By doing so, they will get into minicamp a week earlier, meaning the players will be off after June 12 until the start of training camp at the end of July.
Being the third year under head coach Jonathan Gannon, they apparently are valuing the players’ time and trust they can accomplish their goals in one less week than is permitted.
That will go over well with veterans.
