The Erie Times-News is compiling weekly lists of notable performances by Erie County’s varsity athletes throughout District 10’s spring sports season.
The current list is for achievements recorded from April 13-19. Those top performers are:
Baseball
Vinny Campoli, Fairview: His three-run home run highlighted the Tigers’ 6-2 victory vs. Corry.
Jake Hower, McDowell: He homered during the Trojans’ 4-3 win against the Meadville Bulldogs.
Jordan Cannon, General McLane: The Lancers’ starting pitcher went six innings for the win when they beat Harbor Creek 6-1.
Davin Friedman, Cathedral Prep: His home run was the biggest hit for the Ramblers, who routed the Fort LeBoeuf Bison 13-1.
Softball
Sophia Primavere, Seneca: Her robust 10-RBI performance during the Bobcats’ 15-0 shutout of Eisenhower consisted of a three-run double, a three-run home run and a grand slam.
Brooklynn Cipalla, Harbor Creek: She totaled three runs, three hits and five RBIs when the Huskies routed Erie High 23-1.
Mya Stolz, Fort LeBoeuf: Her RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning, the last of three straight two-out hits for the Bison, was the difference in their dramatic 2-1 victory vs. the visiting McDowell Trojans.
Avery Feldman, Northwestern: The Wildcats won 12-1 against Cathedral Prep in part because of her four RBIs.
Jenna Szklenski, Fairview: The Tigers, aided by her three RBIs, defeated the Conneaut (Pennsylvania) Eagles 12-5.
Grace Chapman, Union City: The Bears, aided by her three RBI, defeated the Youngsville Eagles 18-3.
Boys tennis
Dan Idzik, McDowell: His 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 3 singles match was the difference for the Trojans, who defeated the visiting Warren Dragons 3-2.
Boys lacrosse
Logan Watts, Fairview: He scored five goals and assisted on four others for the Tigers, who defeated the Hickory Hornets 15-4 in a District 10 dual.
Boys track and field
K.C. Wasiulewski, Fort LeBoeuf: He won on the track (100- and 200-meter races) and in the field (long jump) when the Bison beat General McLane 96-54.
Hank Partridge, Cathedral Prep: He won his maximum four events for the Trojans, two in hurdles and two in jumps, during the Ramblers’ 111-37 dual victory vs. Erie High.
Girls track and field
Makayla Stutts, Cathedral Prep: The middle-distance specialist for the Ramblers was a triple victor during their 123-27 dual win over Erie High.
Isabella Williams, General McLane: She swept first place in the individual distance races for the Lancers, who edged the rival Fort LeBoeuf Bison 78-72.
