Could the New York Giants look to swing a trade for Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert?
However preposterous that may sound, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports that it’s something Giants general manager Joe Schoen has “looked into.”
“I heard at one point they looked into Dallas Goedert,” Raanan said on Giants After Dark. “He sounds like a guy who is going to get traded at some point in this draft.
“Now, I am not expecting Dallas Goedert to get traded to the Giants, but the fact that they checked in on it definitely made me scratch my head a little bit. . . It’s something they are at least monitoring.”
Raanan also noted that inquiring about Goedert isn’t a reflection on what the Giants think of Theo Johnson.
“They do think highly of Theo Johnson. They think he can be a significant player,” Raanan said. “Russell Wilson said he could be a star.”
The Giants have poked around several tight ends during the pre-draft process and seem likely to add one at some point before minicamps gets underway.
Currently, their room consists of Johnson, Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz, who was re-signed this offseason, and Greg Dulcich.
