Columbia (S.C.) Ridge View 2026 cornerback Jordyn Best already had a family connection to West Virginia and now holds a scholarship offer from the program.
Best, 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, is cousins with 2025 signee Chamarryus Bomar and it was his father that initiated contact with the Mountaineers sending his film to cornerbacks coach Rod West.
From there West reached out to Best and got to know him before giving him the good news.
“He told me a little bit about West Virginia and then offered,” he said.
West has made it clear that he is impressed with his film especially with his speed and how he could be a good fit for what the Mountaineers want to do on the defensive side of the ball.
The Big 12 Conference program is targeting him as a cornerback in their scheme and he finished last season with 28 tackles, 9 pass break ups and 2 interceptions.
“They really like my speed and my physical playing style,” he said.
Best is talking to the coaching staff about setting up an official visit to Morgantown, but it has yet to set that in stone although he expects that to occur soon.
On top of West Virginia, Best also has received scholarship offers from North Carolina State, Wake Forest, South Florida, Connecticut, East Carolina and Appalachian State.
Best is searching for the right academic fit as well as a strong coaching staff when the time comes to make his college choice.
“That is going to push me and develop me to get to the next level,” he said.
