Bayern Munich have dished out plenty of beatings on Barcelona over the years, but on this day in 2013 they made a bit of Champions League history with their rout at the Nou Camp.
Having dismantled the LaLiga giants 4-0 in Munich, Jupp Heynckes’ men dispelled any hopes of a comeback with a rampant 3-0 win. All the goals came in the second half with Arjen Robben and Thomas Müller’s strikes coming either side of a Gerard Piqué own goal.
The 7-0 aggregate win is the biggest semi-final win in the post-1992 Champions League era, and only topped once ever over the 70 years of the competition’s history.
Bayern went onto win the famous trophy at Wembley, with Robben scoring a late winner in an all-German affair with Borussia Dortmund, which numbed the pain of their final loss a year before and completed a stunning treble.
