Trott O’Neal commits to Longhorns

Texas Longhorns add to their 2026

The Texas Longhorns have added to their kicking game. On Friday, the Longhorns landed a commitment from Plano Prestonwood Christian deep snapper Trott O’Neal. Over the last few weeks, O’Neal has been a popular prospect, and now he will call Austin home.

In O’Neal, the Longhorns are getting a player who is full of talent. He was ranked as the No. 6 deep snapper in the 2026 class. That attracted programs such as Alabama, Boise State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and NC State. The five-star recruit also received an offer from Air Force. While each program has had its run of success, this is a dream come true for the Texas native.

“I would honestly say it’s a dream come true (to commit to Texas),” O’Neil told Rivals shortly after committing.” It’s Texas. I’ve grown up here, I get to stay near home. The best way I can put it is that it’s a dream come true.”

When he arrives on Campus for the first time, O’Neal may not have to wait long to start. The Longhorns’ current deep snapper, Lance St. Louis, is set to enter his fourth year. It also marks his final year of eligibility, which is one reason getting O’Neal was a priority.

While Oneil’s impact may not show up in the boxscore, he has the potential to be a very good player for Texas. The Longhorns still have more work to do, but they have at least one position in good hands for the foreseeable future.
