The New Orleans Saints had a very intriguing 2025 NFL draft class, and when it came down to it, some of their most impressive picks in terms of consensus value came in Day 3. Devin Neal got lots of fans excited with his playmaking capabilities, Quincy Riley was great value and a player the Saints could slot into their secondary early on, and most interestingly, Fadil Diggs, their seventh-round pick, who was generally considered a quite impressive player.
Recently, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN discussed many of the draft picks in 2025 and what he and NFL executives thought of many selections, including Diggs, whom he spoke about quite a bit. He shared the following about the Saints’ last pick of the year:
“Seventh-round pass rusher Fadil Diggs is an interesting name to watch — he has the Elijah Robinson stamp of approval. Robinson, a former Texas A&M defensive line coach and now Syracuse defensive coordinator, has developed a serious pipeline of NFL talent. While at A&M, he recruited Walter Nolen, Shemar Stewart and Shemar Turner, all of whom were selected in the first two rounds of the draft. He coached Baltimore Ravens star Nnamdi Madubuike. Diggs, meanwhile, was a three-time captain for Robinson’s teams — twice at A&M and once for Syracuse after a 2024 transfer. So, while seventh-rounders are not slam dunks to make a roster, Diggs brings a strong background and leadership.”
Diggs could be the next in a decently long line of impressive seventh-round picks by the Saints, including Marques Colston, Zach Strief, and, to a lesser degree, Kaden Elliss. Diggs has shown lots of traits to build upon, and his production in 2024 took a substantial step forward, accruing 7.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 45 tackles, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble with a recovery.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, he ran a 4.57-second 40-yard dash, 1.6-second 10-yard split, and put together a 30.5-inch broad jump with a 10-foot-1 broad jump. This is all rather impressive for a 6-foot-4 and 257-pound defensive end, and his talent should be something exciting for Saints fans heading into the preseason.
