Predicting the Commanders’ entire 2025 schedule

We are less than 24 hours away from the 2025 NFL schedule release. While we know all 14 Washington Commanders’ opponents, we will find out the when on Wednesday evening.

Two games have been revealed thus far: Week 11 in Madrid vs. the Miami Dolphins and Week 16 at home against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Commanders are expected to have several prime-time games in 2025. We took a stab at predicting which games would be in prime time. Of the two announced games, the Washington-Philadelphia game is on a Saturday and is a prime candidate to be played under the lights.

Who will the Commanders open the season against? We do know it will not be the Cowboys or Eagles. We make our final predictions for Washington’s entire 2025 schedule:

Week 1: Bears at Commanders: Sunday Night Football

Why not kick off Washington’s season with a bang? These two teams met in the famous Hail Mary game last season. The Bears want revenge. And this will be the second meeting between the first two picks of the 2024 NFL draft: Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels. This game belongs in prime time.

Week 2: Commanders at Giants

The Commanders played the Giants early last season and will do it again in 2025.

Week 3: Broncos at Commanders: Monday Night Football

The second-best rookie in last season’s phenomenal QB class was Bo Nix — not Williams. It’s only fitting that these two young passers are in prime time.

Week 4: Commanders at Falcons

The Falcons are led by another second-year QB, Michael Penix Jr. Penix made his first career start against Washington in December. Can he outduel Daniels this time around?

Week 5: Commanders at Chargers

Back-to-back road games for Washington. The Chargers are another team on the rise, led by second-year coach Jim Harbaugh. Jayden Daniels returns to his home state.

Week 6: Seahawks at Commanders

The Commanders return home to face the new-look Seahawks, led by QB Sam Darnold.

Week 7: Commanders at Chiefs: Sunday Night Football

You know the NFL will have Jayden Daniels vs. Patrick Mahomes in prime time. Sunday Night Football seems perfect for this Commanders-Chiefs showdown.

Week 8: Raiders at Commanders

It’s good that Washington added reinforcements to the offensive line with Maxx Crosby coming to town. The new-look Raiders will also look much different on offense with QB Geno Smith and rookie RB Ashton Jeanty.

Week 9: Commanders at Cowboys: Thursday Night Football

Another prime-time game for Washington. Dak Prescott is back for the Cowboys. This rivalry should be fun again with Washington finally having a franchise quarterback. It’s the Commanders’ first game on Thursday.

Week 10: Commanders at Vikings

Hello, old friend. The Commanders head to Minneapolis to face the Vikings and defensive tackle Jonathan Allen. Allen spent eight seasons with Washington before he was released in a salary-cap move. This should be a battle of NFC contenders.

Week 11: Commanders at Dolphins in Madrid, Spain

This one is official. The Commanders play their first international game since 2016. It’s the first-ever NFL regular-season game in Spain.

Week 12: BYE

The odds say Washington is due an earlier bye week after late byes in recent years. However, each team coming off an international game deserves a bye.

Week 13: Commanders at Eagles

The first meeting of the season is late. The Eagles and Commanders figure again to be two of the NFC’s top teams.

Week 14: Giants at Commanders

The first rematch of the season. Will rookie Jaxson Dart be under center for the Giants by this time?

Week 15: Lions at Commanders: Monday Night Football

A rematch of the NFC Divisional Round, where the Commanders shocked the Lions. What happens this time around? These teams combined for 76 points in January and will be a fun MNF shootout.

Week 16: Eagles at Commanders (Saturday)

Another official one. These teams meet three weeks apart, similar to recent seasons. Last year, the Eagles won the first meeting in November, while the Commanders won the December rematch. This game is on a Saturday and you’d have to think it will be another prime-time game.

Week 17: Commanders at Packers: Merry Christmas

Another short week for Washington. The Commanders will play on Christmas at Lambeau Field. This game could have major playoff implications.

Week 18: Cowboys at Commanders

It’s a recent tradition that the Commanders and Cowboys play in the regular-season finale. Will both teams be alive for the playoffs this time around?
