No. 7 seed Tennessee (43-14) will host Nebraska (42-13) in game No. 1 of the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Super Regional on Friday.
First pitch between the Lady Vols and Cornhuskers is slated for 7 p.m. EDT at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. ESPN2 will televise the opening game of the best-of-three series.
Friday’s contest will mark the eighth meeting between Tennessee and Nebraska. The Lady Vols lead the all time series, 5-2. The Cornhuskers won the last meeting, 7-1, on Feb. 6 in the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida.

Tennessee defeated the Cornhuskers, 5-0, in Las Vegas, Nevada on Feb, 12, 2005. It was the first game contested between the two teams.
Monica Abbott pitched a three-hit shutout and recorded seven strikeouts for the Lady Vols. She also made an offensive contribution against Nebraska as she hit a two-run home run in the second inning. It was her only career home run.
Abbott is one of the most decorated athletes in Tennessee history. She played for the Lady Vols from 2004-07. Abbott compiled a 189-34 record and recorded 112 shutouts.
During her first two seasons at Tennessee, Abbott was a two-way player. She recorded a .243 career batting average and totaled one home run, 15 RBIs, 18 runs and 15 hits, including three doubles.
