  • Caitlin Clark suffered a left quadriceps strain in the Fever’s 90-88 loss to the New York Liberty at home on May 24
  • The Fever said on Monday that Clark will be sidelined for a minimum of 2 weeks
  • Further updates will be provided following “re-evaluation,” the team said

Caitlin Clark will be sidelined for at least two weeks, the Indiana Fever announced.

The WNBA team issued a statement on Monday, May 26 that said Clark, 23, suffered a left quadriceps strain in the Fever’s 90-88 loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday, May 24.

The Fever said Clark will “be out a minimum of two weeks” as she begins recovery. “Further updates will be provided, as available, following re-evaluation,” the team added.

Fever fans were devastated by the news and surprised that the injury will sideline Clark as she left the game seemingly fine on Saturday.

“CAITLIN TAKE MY LEFT LEG I DONT NEED IT,” one fan wrote in response to the Fever’s announcement.

Another Fever fan shared a more positive response, writing, “Next man up! We got an all around team & will be good. CC you will be missed but take time to heal physically & mentally.”

Clark had a dominant game against the Liberty, despite the loss, banking a 33-foot three-pointer in the second half and showing off her impressive skillset against elite defenders like Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart. She finished the game with 18 points, 10 assists and five rebounds.

The reigning rookie of the year’s injury comes just after Clark received a major compliment from NBA superstar LeBron James. Just before the WNBA season tipped off, James, 40, dedicated a post on his feed to wishing Clark luck in her sophomore season.
