Last week, EA Sports revealed the cover athletes for the highly acclaimed “College Football 26” video game. On Monday, it was time to reveal the cover for “Madden 26.”
EA revealed the cover athlete for the new Madden game is Philadelphia Eagles superstar running back Saquon Barkley.
Barkley’s selection as the cover athlete should not be a surprise, considering his almost perfect 2024 season ended with a Super Bowl victory. Some believed Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was a contender to be on the cover of the famous game.
But, for as sensational as Daniels was last season, Barkley rushed for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns. He could’ve broken the NFL single-season record for rushing yards had the Eagles not sat him for the final game. If you add in Barkley’s postseason performance, he ran for over 2,500 yards, with five more touchdowns. Barkley was the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and was named first-team All-Pro in 2024.
Barkley’s spectacular reverse leap over a Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back was the inspiration for the cover.
