Forty-two spots were filled during Golf’s Longest Day, but five still remain.
Eight of the 10 U.S. Open final qualifying sites concluded Monday across the U.S. (and one in Canada), with two spilling into Tuesday. Two players are in sudden death for the final spot at the Valencia (Calif.) site and will resume at 10 a.m. EDT after darkness halted play.
Golf will also resume at 7:30 a.m. EDT in West Palm Beach, Florida, where multiple weather suspensions meant those four openings have yet to be filled.
Including May, there have been 13 final qualifying sites across the globe as the USGA looks to finalize its field of 156 players for the season’s second major at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.
