The 26-year-old has been unable to dislodge Alisson as the first-choice No. 1 under Jurgen Klopp and, most recently, Arne Slot.
Last season, he made 20 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, and with one year left on his contract, it appeared likely that he would move on.
Liverpool agreed a deal earlier in the season to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer, bringing in the Georgia international to compete with Alisson.
“I am very pleased to welcome Caoimhín to Brentford,” said Brentford’s director of football Phil Giles.
“We have scouted him in the past and were aware that he had a year to go on his contract with Liverpool this summer.
“When Mark Flekken had the opportunity to move to Bayer Leverkusen, we immediately thought about Caoimhín as his replacement.
“As well as being a very good goalkeeper, I’ve rarely met a player for whom everybody has such positive words to say about his personality and character. I’m therefore confident he’ll be an excellent addition to the squad.”
Liverpool have acted quickly in the market since the end of their campaign, signing Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen.
Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has joined 15-time UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid ahead of the end of his contract, meaning he can represent the Spanish side in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
