Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin finally received the recognition he deserved in 2024. The sixth-year pro finally landed a franchise quarterback in Jayden Daniels, and the two hooked up for 13 regular-season touchdowns last season and three more in the playoffs.
McLaurin’s previous career high in touchdowns occurred during his rookie season of 2019. He caught seven touchdown passes that season, almost doubling that in 2024.
It helps when you have a difference-maker at quarterback. Daniels’ coming-out party in terms of the NFL came in the Week 3 edition of Monday Night Football, where he led the Commanders to a 38-33 upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. No one will ever forget this late throw in the fourth quarter, from Daniels to McLaurin, to clinch the win for Washington.
Pro Football Focus recently ranked each NFL team’s top QB/WR/TE duo, and the combination of Daniels and McLaurin ranked fourth.
Daniels came in at No. 6 in PFF’s quarterback rankings for the 2025 season, while McLaurin cracked the top 10 of the wide receiver rankings. What puts this duo even higher on this list as a collective is the fact that Daniels earned an elite 92.9 PFF passing grade when targeting McLaurin and Marcus Mariota earned an elite 93.2 PFF passing grade when targeting McLaurin while Daniels was hurt.
Here are the duos ranked ahead of Daniels and McLaurin:
- 1. Joe Burrow/Ja’Marr Chase, Bengals
- 2. Jalen Hurts/A.J. Brown, Eagles
- 3. C.J. Stroud/Nico Collins, Texans
There’s currently a lot of talk about McLaurin and his contract. He skipped Phase 3 of the offseason program and last week’s minicamp as his representatives negotiate a new contract extension. Don’t worry. It will get done, and Daniels will be throwing touchdowns to McLaurin for years to come.
