The Philadelphia 76ers added a versatile forward in free agency in the form of Trendon Watford in an effort to bounce back. While Watford may not be a knockdown shooter from deep–33% in 2024-25–he has a high basketball IQ and is expected to make an impact with the Sixers.
Watford also happens to be a very close friend of Sixers star Tyrese Maxey. The two played in the 2019 McDonald’s All-American game and have been tight since high school as they both took their respective journeys to get to this level in the NBA.
Maxey has been highly supportive of the Watford addition and shared a highlight video of his new teammate on his Instagram story.
The Sixers will look to integrate Watford as quickly as possible when the season begins in October. He is an important piece who can put the ball on the floor, explode to the basket, and make plays for others. Philadelphia has to lean on his versatility in the ever-changing NBA.
