Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons proved to be one of the best freshman in the country last season. Simmons had 48 total tackles, including 14 for a loss. He also led the team in sacks with nine and forced three fumbles. He went onto win the 2024 Shawn Alexander National Freshman of the Year.
The Duncanville, TX native is on several preseason All-American lists and PFF ranks him as a top five rusher in college football. But Simmons has decided he wants to make a change. Simmons will switch from No. 11 to No. 1 for his jersey number.
Being No. 1 on a team makes you stand out, especially as and edge rusher. Simmons announced the change on Instagram, just saying “1” in the caption. In the final slide of the post, Simmons posted this quote, “Accept what is. Let go of what was. Have faith in what will be.”
