Steelers source compares trade target WR to Hines Ward, per Fillipponi

Trade rumors are running rampant in the Steel City — and one radio host believes the Pittsburgh Steelers hold San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings in high regard.

After ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Jennings was either looking for a new contract or a trade, many Steelers fans began to hope Pittsburgh could target the talented 49ers pass catcher — with 93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi setting off a trade speculation firestorm shortly after.

A day after Schefter’s report, Fillipponi took to social media and revealed what a Steelers source allegedly had to say about Jennings — one of the greatest compliments a potential Pittsburgh WR trade target could receive:

“He’s got a lot of Hines Ward in him.”

Jennings being compared to Ward — arguably the most respected and greatest wide receiver in Steelers history — is an exciting development in recent trade speculation, but it’s important to take these types of reports, from mysterious sources, with a grain of salt.

If the Steelers are truly interested in acquiring Jennings, it’s only a matter of time until additional news and insight become steadily available. There is, however, a growing belief that Pittsburgh is more than comfortable with the in-house wide receiver talent — but if the Steelers are truly banking on Aaron Rodgers’ last ride in 2025, a Jennings trade is likely the move to make.
