Recruiting update on MSU target, 5-star SF Anthony Thompson

One of the top Spartans targets in the 2026 class has provided an update on his recruitment that is notable to Michigan State and others chasing his talents.

Five-star small forward Anthony Thompson recently caught up with Dushawn London of 247Sports where he revealed he is closing to cutting his list of schools in consideration. Thompson has previously announced his top 15 schools, which included Michigan State, and now it sounds like he’ll be narrowing it down even further soon.

Here’s what Thompson told London on his recruitment’s current plan:

“I haven’t set any official visits so far. I’m pretty far in my recruitment process. I’m probably going to narrow my list pretty soon. Hopefully I can set some visits soon.”

His current top 15 lists of schools includes Michigan State, North Carolina, Michigan, BYU, Ohio State, Purdue, Notre Dame, Auburn, Indiana, Georgetown, Kentucky, Texas, Kansas, Xavier and Louisville.

Thompson ranks as the No. 3 small forward and No. 9 overall prospect in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2026 class. He is also listed as the top player from Ohio.

We will need to keep our eyes peeled on any updates from Thompson as he is the type of player that could turn any class into elite status. If Michigan State can get him on campus for an official visit, I like their chances of reeling in this major midwest target.
