Role Description

The Fedora Quality team is dedicated to ensuring the continuous quality of Fedora releases. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Quality Engineer. In this role, you’ll bring both your technical expertise and quality engineering mindset to ensure that Fedora’s releases adhere to quality standards. This is a hands-on position with significant room for initiative and creativity.

  • Design, implement, and maintain tests, processes, and tools for Fedora release testing.
  • Develop and maintain automation of tests and quality-related processes.
  • Perform tests, identify and help resolve issues affecting Fedora users.
  • Engage with other Red Hat teams to coordinate on cross-functional projects and issues.
  • Participate in Fedora community discussions to address quality-related concerns.

Qualifications

  • In-depth Linux knowledge: Ideal candidates are daily Linux users, possibly using Linux as their primary desktop, running their own server, multimedia center, or similar.
  • Quality Engineering mindset: Able to break and fix systems, with a knack for identifying potential issues and a commitment to thorough investigation.
  • Critical thinking: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex issues independently.
  • Effective communication: Experience communicating effectively with other teams and departments across a broad organization.
  • Adaptability: Able to prioritize and switch tasks in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Python development skills are considered a plus.
  • The team mostly maintains scripts interacting with system tools and web services, and develops small web-based applications (frontend, backend, database).
  • A keen interest in a wide spectrum of IT-related topics.
  • Passion for Linux, open source, and community.
