The Oregon Ducks have been blazing hot on the recruiting trail over the past couple of months, landing multiple 5-star athletes and numerous 4-stars, jumping into the top 10 of the national rankings. On Saturday, they were dealt a rare recruiting loss, though.
4-star defensive lineman Deuce Geralds announced that he would be committing to the LSU Tigers over the Ducks. Geralds is rated as the No. 95 player and No. 12 DL in the 2026 class. He had been leaning heavily towards Oregon over the last month, but the Tigers made a strong push late and were able to land his commitment.
Gerald stands at 6-foot-2, 265 pounds, and is a fast-rising prospect in the 2026 class after having turned heads at the Rivals 5-star camp earlier this summer.
While missing out on Gerald isn’t ideal for the Ducks, it shouldn’t take away from what they were able to accomplish over the past couple of months in the recruiting world. Earlier this week, Oregon landed 5-star EDGE Tank Jones over the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas A&M Aggies, making him the fourth 5-star player in the class alongside OT Immanuel Iheanacho, S Jett Washington, and TE Kendre Harrison.
On top of that, the Ducks are expecting to get some good news this afternoon with 5-star DB Davon Benjamin scheduled to announce his commitment, with Oregon standing as a heavy favorite.
