The Kansas City Chiefs are days away from playing their first preseason game on Saturday night against the Arizona Cardinals. The roster got some promising updates on Thursday with the return to practice of two veteran defensive players.
According to reports from practice, cornerback Kristian Fulton and linebacker Drue Tranquill were spotted on the field working out with the team after missing significant time due to injuries. The light workout before this weekend’s game doesn’t indicate whether or not they will be available for the contest but is promising as the regular season draws closer.
Fulton makes his first appearance at camp since starting on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list with a knee injury. He started 15 games last year, both during the regular season and postseason, with the Los Angeles Chargers, finishing with 51 tackles and an interception. He signed a two year deal with the Chiefs at the beginning of free agency.
Tranquill recently suffered a back injury in camp and is making his first appearance in almost a week. During his first two regular-season campaigns with the Chiefs, Tranquill has started in 24 games, tallied 172 combined tackles, and forced two fumbles.
