With the first practice concluded, we’re looking at takeaways, observations, and random notes from the joint session.
No A.J. Brown
Brown has missed about a week with a hamstring injury, and the Eagles are going to be careful with their All-Pro wide receiver.
Shedeur Sanders gets no reps
If Sanders does play against the Eagles on Saturday, it could be his first reps of the week, as the fifth-round pick received no snaps during the joint practice session, spending most of his time off to the side.
Update:
The Browns’ brass says Sanders was held out with an abdominal injury.
Kenny Pickett returns
Pickett returned to the NovaCare Complex for the first time since being traded following the Super Bowl win. Pickett has been battling an injury, but participated and ran with the second team offense, while Joe Flacco led the first team and Dillon Gabriel led the third team.
Injured Eagles
Philadelphia is dealing with several injuries and had A.J. Brown out for precautionary reasons. Lane Johnson eventually departed the practice, and Matt Pryor was inserted at right tackle.

Dotson is a surgical route runner and has been drawing rave reviews all summer long.
Defensive depth chart
The Eagles’ first team defense lined up for 7-on-7 with Adoree Jackson at CB and Sydney Brown at safety. Zack Baun was back in the lineup, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. was at linebacker.
Johnny Wilson is starting to find his role
A big, physical wide receiver can be a matchup nightmare, and Wilson is the X-Factor Philadelphia has been searching for.
Smael Mondon Jr.
The former Georgia linebacker was a fifth-round pick, but has made enough plays to warrant DC Vic Fangio giving him first-team reps in key situations during camp.
Jakorian Bennett struggles during joint practice
Philadelphia acquired the former Raiders cornerback to push Kelee Ringo and Adoree Jackson for the No. 2 cornerback spot. Bennett has been receiving snaps with the first team, but had some difficulties on Day 1 of joint practice.
