England’s gem Ngumoha eclipses Rooney, makes Premier League history

Rio Ngumoha stepped onto the field this Monday (25), and wrote his name in the history of the Premier League.

According to data from Opta, the young attacking midfielder became the second 16-year-old player to score a goal that secured his team’s victory in the competition.

The first? None other than Wayne Rooney, who, in October 2002, when he was 16 years and 362 days old, secured Everton’s victory over Arsenal.

Now, more than two decades later, Ngumoha repeats the feat — and even surpasses the English idol’s record.

A move that already enters the history of the Premier League. And a name to remember.

Alongside Max Dowman, who debuted for Arsenal this season at 15 years old, Rio Ngumoha is another gem that keeps alive the hope of a more victorious future for the England team.
