With a few extra days to get the taste of Week 1’s loss out of their mouths, the Cowboys have already turned the page to Week 2’s home opener against the Giants. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer preached to his players that there are no moral victories to take from the defeat, but there were bright spots. Javonte Williams and Kenny Clark were two of them, and while Miles Sanders’s gaffe has fans ready to see Jaydon Blue’s debut, it’s important to not fall prey to overreactions from one tough game.
The business of football goes on, though, and the Cowboys made a move Tuesday that will delay Perrion Winfrey’s Dallas debut a while longer. Two of the Cowboys’ final cuts are wearing new uniforms, another has been handed a mysterious suspension by the league, and Dak Prescott likely won’t see any punishment for his part in Thursday night’s spitting incident. Cowboys fans kept an eye on Micah Parsons’s first outing as a Packer, Lions head coach Dan Campbell offered a surprising take on the personnel move, and even Parsons himself spoke out on the trade, calling the last six months “super toxic.”
Today’s offering of headlines also checks out Week 1’s TV ratings, the line for Week 2’s divisional matchup, lobster rolls and dessert nachos on the new menu at AT&T Stadium, and an unfortunate wardrobe-and-song pairing from Cowboys superfan Post Malone that had social media rolling.
Looking to Giants news, the Russell Wilson-or-Jaxson Dart question looks to dominate the week in New York. Maybe that’s a good thing, because Big Blue already had some big drama on their sideline Sunday as Malik Nabers blew up on head coach Brian Daboll… but at least the scary sight of one of their star players being carted off in a cast had a happier-than-expected ending.
Elsewhere in the NFL, the 49ers get major injury news that could leave their offense limping, Philadelphia gets running back help (but it costs them some draft capital), and the fan involved in a postgame scrap with Lamar Jackson gets banned. All that, plus new power rankings that see the Cowboys climb… slightly.
