Monroe tasted victory for the first time this season.
Gibraltar Carlson knocked off a defending state champion.
And Jefferson is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2006.
Those were some of the football highlights for Monroe County Region teams on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025.
Other winners were St. Mary Catholic Central, Ida, Flat Rock and Whiteford.
Monroe 20, Ann Arbor Skyline 13
ANN ARBOR – Monroe needed to get out of town to earn its first victory of the season.
The Trojans, who opened the season with losses at home against Plymouth and Dexter, built a 20-0 lead and held off a fourth-quarter comeback by Skyline.
“It’s good to get a win for the guys,” Monroe coach Kyle Reed said. “We’ve got some things to clean up, but it was nice.”
Tanner Collett had a big night for the Trojans with 13 tackles, 2 sacks, an interception and the first score of the game on a 17-yard reception from Grady Brooks.
Brooks also found Tavin Parkhurst for an 8-yard TD pass and Keoni Snavely broke several tackles for a spectacular 44-yard touchdown run.
Timmy Richards also picked off a pass and Nolan Capcioppo had two sacks.
Jefferson 52, Milan 21
MILAN – Luke Beaudrie set the tone early.
Then he kept setting it. Six times.
Beaudrie returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown — one of six on the night for the junior quarterback — to lead Jefferson to a dominant win over Milan.
The Bears are off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2006. That’s also the last time the Bears beat Milan, a span of 19 games.
“It’s a big win for the program,” Jefferson coach Rob Beaudrie said. “Every game is just going to get bigger.”
The younger Beaudrie exceled in all three phases of the game. In addition to his kick return TD, he had four rushing scores and a pick-six.
Drake Jones also scored for the Bears. Defensively, Coach Beaudrie praised the play of linebackers Bret Gennoe and Grant Hakeos.
Milan trailed 45-7 at halftime. Shawn Ballard added touchdown runs of 5 and 10 yards in the fourth quarter, finishing with 15 carries for 63 yards.
Jacob Offerman paced Milan with 9 catches for 120 yards and a TD. Quarterback Cam Dessellier finished 11-for-19 passing for 134 yards.
“It was a very disappointing game,” Milan coach Jesse Hoskins said. “We will work very hard to improve.”

PONTIAC – Gibraltar Carlson pushed its record to 3-0 by beating the defending Division 5 state champions on their home field.
“Big win for our program,” Carlson coach Jason Gendron. “It was a heck of an opportunity to go toe-to-toe with the defending state champs in their house and come away with a big team victory.
Izaiah Wright had a huge game with 241 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. The Purdue recruit also caught a touchdown pass.
“He was the best player on the field,” Gendron said.
Ida 56, Hillsdale 7
HILLSDALE – Ida quickly erased the memories of last week’s last-minute loss to Hudson.
The Blue Streak offense scored four touchdowns in a span of 9:17 at the end of the first half.Ida had already built up a dominating 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and then railed off four more quick scores just before halftime to put the game well out of reach.Gavin Albring scored on runs of 10 and 37 yards and added a 24-yard TD catch from Owen Snyder. He finished with 9 carries for 101 yards. Braden Bydlowski, Kaden Gerth, Dylan Jarrett, Carson Weeman, and Nick Miller also scored for Ida.Hillsdale was shut out until the final seconds of the third quarter.”The kids did a good job of bouncing back after last week,” Ida coach Jeff Potter said.
SMCC 28, New Boston Huron 3
NEW BOSTON – Landon Barron scored on runs of 1 and 38 yards in the third quarter as St. Mary Catholic Central pulled away after leading just 7-3 at the half.
It was the third straight week that the undefeated Falcons have pulled away after the intermission.
They now have outscored their opponents 84-6 in the second half.
Huron dipped to 1-2.
Whiteford 63, West Unity Hilltop 5
OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford’s defense stood tall early and the offense did the rest.
The Bobcat defense recovered a fumble, blocked a punt and returned an interception for a touchdown as the Bobcats built a 50-0 halftime lead.
The Bobcats (2-1) held Hilltop to one first down and negative 7 yards of offense in the first half.
Tre Eitnier scored on runs of 21 and 27 yards. Brek Ruddy had back-to-back touchdowns of 69 and 18 yards. Drew Ruddy scored on runs of 18 and 69 yards and threw a 36-yard TD pass to Andrew Trejo. Trejo also had a rushing touchdown. Gabe Speweik returned an interception 46 yards for Whiteford.
Flat Rock 57, Grosse Ile 13
GROSSE ILE – Flat Rock bounced back from last week’s loss to St. Mary Catholic Central in a big way.
The Rams are 2-1 heading into next week’s home game against Airport.
Mansfield (Mass.) 35, Bedford 21
TEMPERANCE – Bedford fought back in the second half, but could not climb out of a 27-0 hole.
Damien Hart returned a kickoff 96 yards for Bedford’s first touchdown, then Luke Whetstone plunged in from the 1-yard line and Evert Wingate returned a fumble 22 yards for a score in the fourth quarter.
Whetstone was the top rusher with 46 yards and also completed 6-of-10 passes for 57 yards. Keagan Dixon had two catches for 39 yards for the 1-2 Mules.
Adrian Madison 40, Dundee 3
DUNDEE – Dundee scored its first points of the season on a field goal just before halftime, but dipped to 0-3.
It was the first home game for the Vikings under new coach Jason Carpenter.
Dundee dropped its first two games by identical 21-0 scores.

Riverview 38, Airport 6
CARLETON – Airport came home for the first time this season following road losses to Tecumseh and Jefferson.
Huron League contender flexed its muscle with a dominant win.
Now, Airport hits the road for two more weeks, visiting Flat Rock and St. Mary Catholic Central.
Edon (Ohio) 49, Summerfield 0
EDON, Ohio – Summerfield a rude welcome to its new league – The Toledo Area Athletic Conference.
It was the first loss for the Bulldogs after a 2-0 start.
