Fantasy football Week 5 start ’em, sit ’em: Jaguars vs. Chiefs

If you have any Jaguars players on your fantasy football team, who should you be starting this week, and who should you be sitting?

The Jacksonville Jaguars return home for a Week 5 Monday Night Football matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, as the team looks to start the 2025 season 4-1 and do so on the national stage.

If you have any Jaguars players on your fantasy football team, who should you be starting this week, and who should you be sitting?

Start ’em: WR Travis Hunter

Hunter is third on the team in receptions (13) and receiving yards (118). Last week, he shifted away from his defensive role at cornerback and now has more opportunities to play a bigger role at receiver.

In the Jaguars’ Week 4 win over the San Francisco 49ers, Hunter recorded the longest catch of his career – a 28-yard snag- and a career high in receiving yards (42).

He has yet to find the end zone this season, but primarily because Trevor Lawrence has thrown only five interceptions, compared to his four interceptions. With a more consistent role at receiver, Hunter has the framework to blossom into a consistent target for Lawrence.

Start ’em: RB Travis Etienne

Etienne is still the Jaguars’ leading rusher by a mile.

He has racked up 394 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, and is averaging 98.5 yards on the ground per game.

Etienne has also gotten involved in the passing game and has caught six passes for 32 yards and a touchdown. His worst game of the season was in Week 3 against the Texans, where he only tallied 56 yards on the ground, but ran in his first touchdown of the season.

He is the team’s leading scorer with three touchdowns, and has scored a rushing touchdown in each of the past two weeks, including a 124-yard rushing outing last week vs. the 49ers.

Sit ’em: TE Hunter Long

Long has had an interesting season entering Week 5 of 2025.

He has scored on a third of his receptions and has caught 85.7% of his passes. He is the only player on the team to record two receiving touchdowns, despite only having six receptions in five games.

Long is sixth on the team in receiving yards, but has only recorded 41 yards through the air. His longest reception of the season was an 11-yard grab, and while he has been able to find the endzone, he has not been involved heavily enough in the Jaguars’ offense to start.

Sit ’em: WR Parker Washington

Like Long, while Washington’s stats may look intriguing, he has been too inconsistent to be considered a starter. Despite being fifth on the team in receptions (9) and receiving yards (110), he has caught only half of his targets (18) and has been spotty to start the season.

He has recorded two games without a reception – Week 1 vs. the Carolina Panthers, Week 4 vs the Houston Texans – and over a third of his receiving yards came on a 40-yard snag in Week 2 vs. the Cincinnati Bengals

In his last two outings, he has caught four of his 13 targets for 34 yards. He has shown the ability to make big plays, but has not done it consistently enough through the first quarter of the season.
