Dragons will be without new signing Fetuli Paea until December following surgery for a broken arm.
The centre fractured his right forearm less than an hour into his debut against Sharks on Friday night.
The 31-year-old will now miss at least the next four rounds of the United Rugby Championship and is a doubt for the start of Dragons’ European campaign in the Challenge Cup.
“It’s a shame because he was very good against Sharks. He carried and defended very strongly and has fitted in really well,” said defence coach Dale MacLeod.
It is a blow for Dragons after the strong ball-carrying midfielder made an immediate impact on his debut at Rodney Parade, setting up two first-half tries.
