A’ja Wilson is doing GOAT things again with WNBA Finals Game 3 winner

Welcome back to The Morning Win. We are all witnesses… or if you aren’t a witness, you should be. A’ja Wilson is an all-time great player doing all-time great things. Again.

On Wednesday night, Wilson hit the game-winning shot to give the Las Vegas Aces a commanding 3-0 lead over the Phoenix Mercury in the first-ever seven-game WNBA Finals. The way things are going, the Aces will only need four games to end it. Wilson is making sure of that.

Wilson’s game-winner with 0.3 seconds capped a 34-point night for the Aces star who went 11-of-20 from the field with 14 rebounds, four assists and three blocks. It was a finals career-high in scoring for the WNBA’s all-time leader in 30-point playoff games. For the series, she’s averaging 27.6 points, 12.6 rebounds and four assists. She’s a -5000 favorite at BetMGM to win finals MVP. Wilson isn’t going to be denied.

This series is just more of what we’ve come to expect from Wilson, who’s truly on a GOAT path. At just 29 years old, she’s on track to put a third championship and second finals MVP in a trophy case that already includes four regular-season MVPs, three defensive player of the year awards, two scoring titles, a rookie of the year award and so much more. If she doesn’t finish her career as the unanimous greatest player — a tall task in a league of so many greats — she’ll be on the short list of most accomplished at her current trajectory.

And with her Game 3 winner, Wilson is beginning to stack up the moments that make her outstanding career so memorable, bringing Vegas to within a game of a sweep on Friday. Those are things GOATS do. Tap in and appreciate being able to watch one while you can.
