Who’s in, who’s out, and who has a chance to play this Sunday? The New Orleans Saints (1-8) and Carolina Panthers (5-4) are all set for kickoff at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, but each team is managing some injuries. Here’s the latest on everyone listed on the final injury report. We’ll find out for sure who is suiting up when the teams announce their inactive players at 10:30 a.m. CT.
Ruled out
- Right tackle Taliese Fuaga suffered a sprained ankle late in last week’s loss, and he’s already been ruled for this game after not practicing during the week. The hope is for him to return to the lineup after the upcoming bye week, but we’ll be monitoring his status.
- Offensive lineman Barry Wesley was initially questionable to play, but he’s been ruled out. He’s working his way back from a preseason hip injury which landed him on injured reserve. He’s got another week or two to practice before the Saints must choose to activate him or shut him down for the rest of the year.
The Panthers ruled out right guard Chandler Zavala due to an elbow injury. He’s been in and out of the starting lineup all season, so this could be a big loss.
Questionable
- Defensive tackle Bryan Bresee was limited on Thursday and Friday with a back issue, and is officially questionable to play. He’ll probably need to go through pregame warmups before the team makes a final decision. But it feels like a good sign no one was brought up from the practice squad to replace him.
- Running back Alvin Kamara was limited at practice throughout the week with an ankle injury, which has been the case for him in recent weeks. The Saints did bring up Audric Estime from the practice squad to improve depth behind him, but it sounds like he expects to play in Carolina.
- Tight end Jack Stoll has also been dealing with an ankle injury, but his looked a lot worse last week when he left the field on a medical cart. We’ll see if he’s able to play. He’s been the primary blocking tight end for much of the season. This could be an opportunity to get a more well-rounded player on the field in Foster Moreau.
- Defensive lineman Jonah Williams is also questionable, due to a shoulder injury. He just had a sack against the Los Angeles Rams last week so it would be nice to keep a guy on a bit of a hot streak in the game, if he’s able to go.
Two wide receivers are questionable for the game: Brycen Tremayne, with a hip injury, and Tetairoa McMillan, who pulled his hamstring at practice on Friday but is expected to play. He’ll go through pregame warmups before they make the final call, but it sounds like he’s playing.
Available
The Saints listed defensive end Cameron Jordan (ankle) and quarterback Taysom Hill (knee) on the injury report this week, but they’re both expected to play. So is nose tackle Davon Godchaux (rest) who was given his usual day off on Thursday while the team practiced third down situations.
A small crowd of Panthers players will play on Sunday despite being listed on the injury report this week. That group includes running back Rico Dowdle (quadricep), safety Lathan Ransom (illness), left guard Damien Lewis (oblique), center Cade Mays (ankle/knee), and outside linebacker Princely Umanmielen (ankle). Defensive tackle Derrick Brown (elbow) was a late addition to the injury report on Thursday, but he expects to play.
