UNC basketball moves up again in latest USA TODAY Sports coaches poll

The North Carolina Tar Heels completed another 2-0 week as they are now 4-0 to open up the 2025-26 college basketball season. After getting that big win over Kansas, they avoided two let down spots with wins over Radford and then NC Central.

Now, they are moving up again in the latest USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

The Tar Heels have moved up one spot from No. 20 to No. 19 in the poll, earning 230 total points. It’s the second-straight week the team has moved up in the poll after they started off ranked No. 25 in the preseason poll.

As for the Atlantic Coast Conference, they have a total of three teams ranked, with Duke leading the way at No. 4 followed by Louisville at No. 6. NC State and Virginia also received votes, with the Wolfpack being the No. 26 team just outside of the poll.

For UNC, they will see the schedule get tougher in the coming weeks. They are set to play No. 20 Michigan State on Thanksgiving and then the following week will travel to face off against No. 13 Kentucky in Rupp Arena.

But right now, the focus is on Navy, which comes into Chapel Hill on Tuesday night.
