There are lots of talented hoopers returning to play boys basketball in the Jackson area this year, but some look like early frontrunners to be the best local player.

Kealan Polk, Bolivar: Polk is coming off a season where he averaged 17 points, four steals and five rebounds.
Jace Ward, Dyersburg: In his junior year, the point guard averaged 16.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
Drake Lehmkuhl, Gleason: As a junior, Lehmkuhl averaged 22 points per game and 7.4 rebounds. He’s won back-to-back Weakley County player of the year awards.
Jaxon Burdine, Hardin County: Last year, Burdine averaged 16 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.7 steals. He was a member of the All-District Team and the All-District tournament Team.
Darion Taylor, Humboldt: Taylor, a junior, averaged 12 points, 3.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds. He was named all district, all region and TSWA All State after guiding Humboldt to the Class 1A state tournament.

Kenton Smith, Huntingdon: As a sophomore, Smith averaged 21.6 points per game, 6.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.2 blocks. He shot 42% from the three, and was decorated with accolades such as all district MVP, all region and all district tournament MVP.
Nathan Graham, Jackson Central-Merry: Graham averaged 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and 0.5 blocks per game last season while earning All-Regional Tournament Team and All-District Team honors.
Kelsey Rose, Jackson Christian: Rose was first team all district after averaging 15.1 points per game, five rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting 60% from the field.
Lincoln Woods, North Side: Woods averaged 18.4 points and 3.2 assists and earned multiple postseason honors, including the District 12-3A MVP.

Jack Cupples, Riverside: As a sophomore, Cupples averaged 22.2 points per game, 9.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals. He won District MVP and District Tournament MVP.
Charles Mulcahy, South Fulton: Last season, Mulcahy was an All District performer for the second time after averaging 14 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Koen Thomas, South Gibson: As a junior, he led his team in points, assists and blocks with 14 points per game, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals.
