Kansas City Current forward Temwa Chawinga has been named the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) for 2025.
Chawinga, 27, claims the award for a second successive season, becoming the first player in the league’s 13-year history to do so and only the second player after Sam Kerr to win multiple MVP awards.

The Malawi international is the NWSL’s top scorer in 2025 with 15 goals in 23 regular-season appearances.
She won the MVP award for 2024, her debut season in the NWSL following her move from Wuhan Jianghan University, after winning the league’s golden boot with 20 goals in 25 appearances.
Current comfortably topped the regular season standings in 2025, finishing 21 points clear of Washington Spirit in second, but were beaten by No. 8 seed Gotham in the playoff quarterfinals.
Gotham will play the Spirit in the final on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET in San Jose, Calif.
