Seahawks kicker Jason Myers named Special Teams Player of the Month

I once wrote in a Takeaways piece two weeks ago how Seattle Seahawks kicker Jason Myers deserves more love. He isn’t just one of the best kickers currently in football, he is also the best kicker the Seahawks have ever had. Myers’ 187 field goals are the most in Seattle team history, and has the most 50+ yarders as well. On the year, Myers has connected on 33-of-38 field goal attempts. However, what is even more impressive is the fact the bulk of this production has come in the last month.

This was certainly a November to remember for Jason Myers, as he kicked 15 field goals and led the entire league with 61 points. To put this into perspective, the Tennessee Titans as a team scored only 60 points in November. For Myers’ efforts, he has earned himself NFC Special Teams Player of the Month!

Myers closed out November strong by connecting on all four field goal attempts in the 26-0 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Until Zach Charbonnet scored, the only offensive points the Seahawks managed to put up were Myers’ field goals. Seattle’s offense hasn’t been as efficient or explosive as of late, and the team is struggling mightily in the red zone. However, they have been able to get away with it (mostly) due to the incredible leg of Jason Myers.

That being said, the Seahawks will need to find the end zone more as they close out the season. But if they don’t, at least they have a reliable points machine wearing the No. 5 jersey to count on.
