The stakes couldn’t be much higher for both the Cowboys and the Lions entering their Thursday night showdown. The winner gets a nice boost in their chase of a postseason berth, while the loser will see their mathematical chances of making the playoffs drop significantly.
Both clubs are viewing this primetime matchup as a must-win proposition, but whoever wins Week 14 will have to do so without some key playmakers, as late-season injuries have hit both locker rooms.

One of the more closely-watched players this week has been Cowboys defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, with the coaching staff waiting until warmups to determine whether his hamstring looked good enough to allow him to play. After a long pregame session with director of rehabilitation Britt Brown, Clowney has been declared inactive. Practice squadder Isaiah Land was called up earlier in the day and could see playing time instead.
Safety Malik Hooker was limited all week with a back injury and listed as questionable, but he is active for the game.
Rookie running back Jaydon Blue is inactive again; Malik Davis played well in his place on Thanksgiving and scored on an electrifying long touchdown run.
Cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee) and offensive tackle Tyler Guyton (ankle) had already been ruled out of the Week 14 contest. Both will take advantage of the coming mini-bye and hope to get themselves back into the lineup before the Cowboys’ next game, on Dec. 14 versus Minnesota.

For the Lions, wide receiver Amon-Ra. St. Brown has been the focus of lots of attention since injuring his ankle in Detroit’s Thanksgiving Day loss to Green Bay. He did not practice this week, but he went through what some observers called “a pretty rigorous warmup” before the Week 14 game. The team elevated practice squad receiver Malik Cunningham on Thursday as a just-in-case precaution, but St. Brown is active after all and appears ready to play.
