FOXBOROUGH – Five star quarterback Chris Vargas started the game for St. John’s Prep in the Division 1 Super Bowl against Xaverian at Gillette Stadium.
The Eagles kicked off first to Xaverian and got the ball with 9:30 left in the first quarter after a Hawks three and out.

The sophomore hasn’t played in the past two playoff games or on Thanksgiving against Xaverian, as the top-seeded Eagles reached the Super Bowl for the first time since 2023. St. John’s Prep is seeking its first title since 2022.
Vargas suffered a leg injury against Framingham in the Round of 16 on Nov. 8.
He has offers from Ohio State, Illinois, Georgia, Boston College and Auburn.
Vargas has been the Eagles starting quarterback for the past two years.
St. John’s Prep is aiming for its seventh Super Bowl title in its 11th trip. Senior John Budrow has steered the ship for the past two rounds, as the Eagles have leaned on a dominant running game.
