Some of the best high school football talent in the country takes the field in Atlanta this week with state championship trophies on the line.

It doesn’t get much better than the matchup in the 6A final, where the top-ranked team in The Sporting News Top 25, Buford, takes on SN No. 5 Carrollton in an epic showdown of 14-0 powerhouses.
While the Trojans have a legacy of excellence, they haven’t won it all since 1998 and will be primed to bring a trophy back to Carrollton. Buford’s rise to prominence began shortly after that, and the Wolves have won 13 state titles across six different classifications since 2001 but have fallen short the last three years — a drought by their standards.
Elsewhere, the finals in the four smallest classifications will feature teams looking for repeat titles: Carver, Columbus (2A), Toombs County (A-Div. I), Bowdon (A-Div. II) and Hebron Christian (Private). Bowdon is trying to win it all for the fourth year in a row.
